Hello!! It’s nice to meet you!
Hello! I’m Mariah, welcome to my cakery! I am a custom cake decorator from Layton, Utah. I have been an avid baker and cook since I was old enough to help my mom in the kitchen. I had many many mishaps when I was a kid but kept working at it and now it is a true passion.
I started decorating cakes in 2017 for my family birthday parties. I come from a large family and most of my five siblings live near each other, although we weren’t raised in Utah. I love having my family so close. We get together a couple (or more) Sunday’s each month for dinner and board games. They have been my test group for new recipes and practice cakes.
I was excited when my then six year old nephew asked me to make him a birthday cake. He wanted it to have a really big 6 made out of M&M’s. This is the cake the started it all! Now, each of my younger brother’s kids get special cakes for their birthdays as do many of my siblings.
The cake requests keep getting more and more challenging and sometimes, they didn’t turn out quite like I had planned. Despite this, it’s been a fun learning process and I’ve learned so much!
When I’m not making delicious creations for friends and family, I can be found teaching private music lessons to an awesome group of young french horn and trumpet students, working in our family business, spending time with my family and playing with my lively dogs and cat.
